Pesara pappu (Moong Dal )charu
As far as I have heard moong dal has a very high protein content and digests very easliy.
Let us now learn to make a tasty dish using this.
Prep Time:10 mins
Cook Time:25 mins
Serves:3-4
Ingredients:
Moong Dal - 1/4 Cup
Tomatoes - 2 (finely chopped)
Onion - 1/2 (finely chopped)
Green Chillies - 3 (slit into halves)
Salt - As per taste
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
Lemon Juice - As per taste
Cilantro - 2tbs (finely chopped)
For popu/tempering::
Red chillies - 2
Mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp
Cumin seeds -1/4 tsp
Asafoetida - 1/4 tsp
Urad dal - 1/2 tsp
Garlic Slices- 2 Crushed
Curry leaves - few
Method:
1.Pressure cook Moong Dal and tomatoes together and mash them.
2.After mashing add water and let it boil for around 10 mins.
3.Heat oil in a pan and add red chillies and mustard seeds to it.
4.As the mustard seeds splutter, add urad dal and cumin seeds.
5.Once the urad dal turns light brown, add asafoetida,garlic slices,green chillies,curry leaves and onions.
6.Fry the onions and add this tempering to the boiling mixture.
7.Add salt,chilli powder as per taste.
8.Bring the mixture to a boil,add cilantro and lemon juice.
9.Serve and enjoy.

Andhra Chicken fry
Mmmmmmm...... Chicken fry a mouth watering dish.This is one of my favorite chicken dish and most popular in Andhra.
Prep Time:15 mins
Cook Time:40 mins
Serves:3-4
Ingredients:
Cleaned and washed chicken -1/2 Kg
Ginger and Garlic paste - 1 1/2 tsp
Tomatoes - 2 (finely chopped)
Onions - 1 medium sized (finely chopped)
Garam Masala - 2tsp
Green chillies-4 (slit into halves)
Curd-1tbs
Others:
Cooking Oil - 3-4 tbs
Cloves- 2
Cardamom- 1
Turmeric powder -1/4 tsp
Chilli Powder- 2tsp
Salt-As per taste
Mint leaves-2tbs (finely chopped)
Coriander leaves-2tbs (finely chopped)
Curry leaves- 5-6
Method:
1.In a bowl add the chicken, 1tsp Ginger and Garlic paste, turmeric powder,salt,chilli powder, garam masala,curd,curry leaves.Mix well and let it marinate for 10mins.
2.Heat the oil in a pan and add the cloves and cardamom
3.Then add the onions and Green chillies and fry them till they are golden brown.Now add 1/2 tsp of ginger and garlic paste,fry it for a minute.
4.Add the chicken mixture, tomatoes and mint leaves,mix it well and close the lid.
5.Let the chicken cook for 25 mins,stir after every 5 mins.
6.Remove the lid and fry the chicken till all the water evaporates.
7.Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with steamed rice.
Simple Homemade Cake
Here is the recipe of the simple cake that can be made at home in no time.
All you need to make this yummy and easy cake:
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 35-40 minutes depending on the oven
Serves:6-8
Ingredients:
Unsalted Butter – 1 cup
Baking Powder – 1 tsp
All-purpose Flour – 1 cup
Sugar - 1 cup
Eggs - 1 cup (4-5 depending on the egg size)
Unsalted butter can be replaced with any vegetable oil.
Method:
1.Melt the butter so it is soft and add sugar to it.
2.Mix butter and sugar to form a nice paste.
3.Add all-purpose flour,baking powder and eggs to the paste and mix it well.
4.Grease a baking pan and pour the batter into it.
5.Pre-heat the oven(180 degrees C/350 degrees F) for 10 mins.
6.Bake in a pre-heated oven (180 degrees C/350 degrees F) for 35- 40 minutes in the center of the oven.
7. Once done, take the cake out and allow it to stand for 5 minutes before taking it out of the pan.
8. Loosen the edges and flip the cake onto a plate.
9.Serve and Enjoy.
Note:
1.Take care when mixing the batter to form a smooth paste.I prefer using a hand mixer which make my job very easy and quick.
2.To know whether the cake is properly baked or not, poke a knife in the center of the cake.No batter should stick to the knife.Then the cake is all ready to serve.
